THE TABLOID Nový Čas kept its position as the most-read daily in Slovakia in the second half of 2007. The latest MML - TGI survey conducted by Median SK in license cooperation with the British company BMRB International showed that 25 percent of the population, or more than 1 million people, read its last edition, the SITA newswire wrote.
The Pravda daily placed second with nine percent, followed by Sme with eight percent. Another tabloid, Plus Jeden Deň, achieved a seven percent readership rate and regional daily Korzár four percent. Readership rates of all dailies have recorded moderate increases recently.
Private television station TV Markíza achieved the highest viewer rate at 64 percent in the second half of last year. The first channel of the public service Slovak Television, Jednotka, recorded a 29 percent viewer rate, followed by TV JOJ with 28 percent. The news channel TA3, Dvojka, the second STV channel and the Czech station TV Prima each had four percent.
The survey targeted 4,061 respondents aged 14-79, who were surveyed between June 25 and December 9, 2007.
