Zdenka Kudláčová, who until Wednesday, February 13, was responsible for public procurement at the Eastern Slovak Cardiovascular Institute, a position she had held since December 2011, resigned after the Sme daily reported that the state joint-stock company employs her even though she has been charged, together with ex-ministers Igor Štefanov and Marian Janušek, in the so-called bulletin-board tender case.
Sme quoted her in its Thursday issue as calling the report “slander” and arguing that she had not been convicted of anything.
The case involved the announcement, during the 2006-2010 Fico government, of a €120-million tender for supplying to the then Construction Ministry various legal and advertising services co-financed by EU funds solely on an obscure bulletin board in a corridor at the ministry, then under the remit of the Slovak National Party (SNS). The tender was won by businesses linked to SNS party leader Ján Slota, and the money spent via the project later had to be repaid by the state to Brussels.
