Opposition parties are complaining that the Slovak postal service company Slovenská Pošta has not distributed its magazine Kališpeciál (Kaliňák Special). The magazine covers the recent scandal involving Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák.
Opposition parties, Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) and Ordinary People/Independent Personalities-NOVA (OĽaNO-NOVA) ordered two million copies of the magazine from a Czech printer, according to OĽaNO-NOVA head Igor Matovič.
“We will respond to this sabotage by sending a motion to the postal ombudsman Ján Jasovský and we will initiate an extraordinary parliament committee where we will want an explanation from the Transport Minister [Árpád Érsek ] about how this sabotage is possible,” head of SaS Richard Sulík said, as quoted by the SITA newswire, “and we are also considering legal steps.”
The distribution is delayed because the original plan was to publish flyers about Kaliňák but such flyers could violate the human rights of the Interior Minister, according to Iveta Dorčáková, the spokesperson of Slovenská Pošta.
Later, opposition parties changed the format from flyers to a magazine, therefore Slovenská Pošta had to confirm that it is a correctly registered periodical.
“We haven’t received the requested information,” Dorčáková said, as quoted by SITA.
