The Slovak Parliament reconvened its 19th term on February 5.

MPs are scheduled to discuss a bill introduced by Katarína Tóthová and Ľudmila Mušková of the ĽS-HZDS, a junior coalition partner.

The bill would extend the prohibition on minors consuming narcotics and alcohol to include private residences. The only exception would be symbolic samplings of alcohol, such as a toast, performed under adult supervision. Violating the law would earn the minor’s parents a Sk1,000 fine. Principals, teachers, physicians and police officers would also be required to report young people under the influence.
