MPs of the governing coalition refused to approve the abolition of the Bratislava-based Children's Cardio-Center at their recent extraordinary parliamentary session, the SITA newswire wrote.
Nonetheless, parliament approved a proposal from SMER-SD Deputy Jana Laššáková that requires Health Minister Ivan Valentovič submit a report on planned organisational changes in the health care sector, including the Children's Faculty Hospital, within 30 days.
Laššáková said that convening an extraordinary session set a precedent that infringes on ministerial powers and amounted to nothing more than a fishing expedition by the opposition, mainly the SDKÚ-DS. SITA
