Members of Parliament (MPs) have inserted several changes into the rules on how parliament functions.
As of January, the Slovak parliament has the power to set up special committees in order to investigate issues of public interest.
The measure was passed with the support of the The New Citizens' Alliance (ANO), which voted in line with the opposition. At least one-fifth of MPs (30) have to back a proposal to set up a special committee, the daily SME wrote.
The chair of any such committee will be chosen in a secret parliamentary ballot.
The Movement for a Democratic Slovakia (HZDS) managed to get another change through: only caucuses of elected parties having passed through elections will be allowed to be established and operate in the parliament.
The ethnic Hungarian party SMK failed to push through a proposal allowing the use of their native language during parliamentary discussions.
