The entrepreneurial environment in Slovakia further deteriorated in the second quarter of 2012, with businessmen complaining in particular about planned changes to the tax and payroll deductions burden and the lack of certainty about government measures in the sphere of economic policy, the executive director of the Slovak Business Alliance (PAS) lobbying group, Róbert Kičina, said on Thursday, August 2, as reported by the TASR newswire.
The current level of the Entrepreneurial Environment Index (IPP), PAS's own internal gauge, is 84 points, the lowest since the index was launched more than ten years ago. It is now 3.46 percent lower than the figure for the previous quarter. Other complaints included: legislation on taxes, charges and investment; lack of efficiency in state money management; labour legislation; and poor law enforcement. Very few items recorded improvement: openness of companies concerning information; environmental consciousness; and behaviour towards business partners.
