Speaker of Parliament Pavol Paška will introduce a proposal for the complete cancellation of ministers of parliament's immunity on Friday, Paška's spokesman Jozef Plško told the TASR newswire on June 14.
"Members of Parliament and citizens are equal, and there is no reason why we should not be equal in our statements,” said Paska. “Thus, I will call for the total removal of MPs immunity, and I hope to find political support in this."
According to Paška, the proposal should be more comprehensive and more rational than the opposition's legislative initiative that has already been introduced.
Paška's proposal roughly corresponds with the opposition's proposal but while they propose the removal of MPs' immunity excluding statements made in parliament, Paška says the removal of immunity should cover this area also.
