AFTER eight months in office, the cabinet has proposed its first ambassadorial shuffle.
On February 28, the cabinet agreed to propose that the president withdraw nine of Slovakia's ambassadors and appoint replacements.
For the first time, PM Robert Fico also admitted that some of the diplomatic nominations were made for political reasons. In his opinion, the government needs its "own people in important posts".
"There are some posts and certain countries where the government wants to be sure are filled by people it can rely on. If the post is an important one, we want to have a clear relationship and contact with the ambassador," he said.
"I do not want to say, however, that political nominations are alright," he added.
