A Polish tourist lost in the Western Tatra mountain range was found alive at 6:25 on December 21, thanks to the joint efforts of Polish and Slovak rescue teams, who conducted an intensive search lasting several hours.
The man set out hiking at around 11:00 on Saturday from the Cholow Lodge. Heading for Lúčna, he lost his way in unfavourable weather. Shortly after midnight, Polish rescuers began scouring the border ridge of the Zabrat saddle, but without success. They asked their Slovak counterparts based at the Zverovka ski resort for help at around 2:00.
Found in woodland at Sindlovec several hours later, the tourist was suffering from hypothermia but was otherwise unscathed. The rescue team took him to the mountain-rescue base in Zverovka. TASR
