Mikuláš Dzurinda, the chairman of the Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ), and Robert Fico, the chairman of the opposition Smer party, topped a chart of politicians who made the most promises to voters while failing to fulfil them based on a telephone survey conducted by the WakeUp agency between December 1 and 9, 2011, involving a sample of 1,212 respondents older than age 18, the SITA newswire reported.
The respondents were asked the question: "Which of the current politicians promised you the most and then failed to keep the promise?" A total of 18.56 percent of respondents named Dzurinda, while 17.33 percent chose Fico. Politicians to follow were Prime Minister Iveta Radičová (SDKÚ) with 10.81 percent; Richard Sulík (Freedom and Solidarity, SaS) with 10.31 percent; Ivan Mikloš (SDKÚ) with 3.30 percent; Vladimír Mečiar (Movement for Democratic Slovakia, HZDS) with 3.05 percent and Ján Slota (Slovak National party, SNS) with 1.24 percent. 13.28 percent of the respondents did not answer the question and 11.72 percent said "all of them".
When asked in the poll: "Which of the current politicians not only promised but also kept their promises and thus improved the quality of your life?", people placed Robert Fico first with 22.19 percent, followed by Radičová with 10.64 percent; Béla Bugár (Most-Híd) with 3.8 percent; Sulik (SaS) with 3.71 percent, Igor Matovič (Ordinary People) with 2.15 percent, Mikloš with 1.9 percent and Dzurinda with 1.82 percent. 32.59 percent answered "no-one" and 12.38 percent did not answer the question.
