Poll: Fico both most- and least-trusted politician, again

Prime Minister Robert Fico ended up as both the most- and least-trusted politician in Slovakia in the latest poll of the MVK polling agency.

Following Fico’s 32.2 percent was the second-most trusted official - Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák (21.4 percent), then Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajčák (12.6 percent), Most-Híd chairman Béla Bugár (11.8 percent) Christian Democratic Movement-KDH’s Pavol Hrušovský (10.6 percent), New Majority-Agreement (NOVA) leader Daniel Lipšic (10.5 percent), chairman of Ordinary People and Independent Personalities (OĽaNO) Igor Matovič (10.3 percent), President Ivan Gašparovič (8.1 percent), Speaker of Parliament Pavol Paška (5.2 percent) and Independent MP Radoslav Procházka (4.2 percent), the TASR newswire quoted the MVK poll.

Conversely, Fico received as much as 29.3 percent as the least-trusted politician; followed by Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) head Richard Sulík (18.6 percent)and Matovič (17 percent), former Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ) chair Mikuláš Dzurinda (13.4 percent), former Slovak National Party (SNS) leader Ján Slota (13.2 percent), Gašparovič (10.1 percent), KDH chairman Ján Figeľ (9.6 percent), Kaliňák (8.3 percent), Lipšic (8 percent) and independent MP Alojz Hlina (7.3 percent).

The survey was carried out between September 26 and October 2 and released on October 9. A sample of 1,078 respondents was asked two questions: “Who do you consider to be most serious and trusted politicians?” and “Who do you think are the politicians that have caused serious problems and dragged the level of Slovak politics down the most?” People were allowed to choose three names in each case.
