Still clearly on top with 37.9-percent support, Prime Minister Robert Fico would have win the first round of a presidential election if it were held today, according to the latest poll carried out by the MVK agency between September 26 and October 2 on a representative sample of 1,078 respondents.
Advancing to the second round of the vote, Fico would have to face Christian Democratic Movement(KDH) defector and now independent MP Radoslav Procházka who was backed by 18.1 percent of respondents, the TASR newswire quoted the poll. Next came KDH MP Pavol Hrušovský (with 17.6 percent), philanthropist and former businessman Andrej Kiska (13.2 percent), former KDH chair Ján Čarnogurský (8.9 percent) and Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) MP Peter Osuský on 4.4 percent. Meanwhile, as many as 26.2 percent of all the respondents wouldn’t have gone to polling stations or couldn’t decide as to who to vote for.
