Incumbent President Ivan Gašparovič would have won the presidential election with 54.3 percent of the vote if it had taken place at the end of September, according to a poll conducted by the MVK agency on a sample of 1,176 respondents published on October 7.
Joint opposition candidate Iveta Radičová (SDKÚ) would have been second with 30.2 percent and the Conservative Democrats candiaite, Frantisek Mikloško, third with 4.7 percent.
Other candidates who have received votes included Zuzana Martináková of the non-parliamentary Slobodné Forum (Free Forum) party, at 4.1 percent; HZDS MEP Sergej Kozlík, 2.9 percent; cardiologist Viliam Fischer (independent), 2.4 percent; Communist Party candidate Milan Sidor and his former fellow party member Dagmar Bollová (independent), both 0.4 percent.
The results indicate that 6.4 percent of respondents wouldn't have voted, while 10.8 percent were undecided. TASR
