Poll: Majority wants a candidate against Kotleba’s party

Political parties should put up a single candidate for regional governor to challenge the incumbent one.

Parties across the political spectre should join forces in the upcoming regional elections, agreeing on a single candidate for regional governor who would run against the candidate fielded by the extremist party ĽSNS, a poll shows.

The poll was conducted by the pollster Polis Slovakia on the phone between July 18 and 24 on a sample of 1,208 respondents, the Sme daily wrote on August 3.

In total, 46.2 percent of those polled support this move. The answer of 21.9 percent of respondents was “a resolute Yes”; while 24.2 percent of those polled answered “more Yes than No”.

Negative answers came from 33 percent of respondents: 19.6 percent of them opined “More No than Yes”, while 13.4 percent were resolutely against. The remaining 20.8 percent could not decide.
