"The redundancies will affect all posts ... including management," said general director of PPS Group Pavol Šimkovič for the TASR newswire. He added that the company will take into account the social situation of individual employees who should be dismissed. It will attempt to save the jobs of people who are the single breadwinners of their families, for example, said Šimkovic.

According to spokesman Pavel Machava, PPS Group has been facing difficult times due to a 50 percent decline in orders from their key customers. The company was in a similar situation in 2008, when it was forced to reduce its staff to a mere 560. More than one half of those dismissed were re-hired later. "If the situation improves, we're ready to rehire these people," said the general director as quoted by TASR.
