The president mentioned that the constitution had been amended three times since its adoption on September 1, 1992. The future of the Slovak constitutional system, he said, would depend on the further development of mutual relationships with EU member states and Brussels.

Gašparovič did not rule out possible changes to the constitution pertaining to the country’s political system, general elections and audit office, among others.
