President Rudolf Schuster has most probably vetoed the revision to the law on abortions, that parliament passed earlier in July, two sources close to the Presidential Office have confirmed to the daily Pravda.
Presidential spokesman Jan Füle refused to comment on the information and said that the president's decision would be published on Wednesday.
Pavol Rusko's New Citizen's Alliance, which caused a major tumult by submitting the draft, might try to overrule the presidential veto in September. However, parliament is not likely to pass the law, which would make abortions possible up to the 24th week of pregnancy if the embryo is genetically damaged, for the second time.
