POLICE have initiated a prosecution in connection with a blog called Vrahovia medzi nami (Murderers Among Us), which started a public debate over president Ivan Gašparovič’s whereabouts at the time of a 2009 hunting trip during which forester Michal Bobák was fatally shot, private broadcaster TV Markíza reported.
The President’s Office filed a criminal complaint, and in the words of the president’s spokesperson Marek Trubač, the blog “spreads rumours on how the president killed a man”, Markíza reported.
The case is allegedly being dealt with by an investigator of the National Criminal Agency.
“He opened a prosecution in the case, for the crime of libel, but no specific person has been charged so far,” police spokesman Michal Slivka told TV Markíza.
