ABOUT 20 people attending the latest Gorilla Protest rally welcomed deputies arriving at the first session of the new parliament on April 4 by beating steel drums. They were prevented from approaching the parliament building by several barriers manned by police officers, the SITA newswire reported.
One of the organisers of the protest, Peter Pčolinský, said that one of the main goals of the rally was to point out that people he called “Gorillas” who sat in the previous parliament now had returned to take their oaths to sit in the new assembly.
He said demonstrators also wanted to show their dissatisfaction with the current political situation and called on the new government to fully investigate the Gorilla allegations.
Pčolinský told SITA he expected the protest to gather about 500 people over the course of the day.
