Public support for NATO entry reaches almost 55 percent

IN DECEMBER, almost 55 percent of respondents supported the country's entry to NATO in a poll conducted by the Institute for Research of Culture and Public Opinion (UVVM).

Compared to September, support has increased by 2 percentage points.

According to a poll conducted by the UVVM, 23 percent of the respondents definitely support, and 32 percent are more for than against the country's NATO membership. The poll says that 41 percent are against.

Support for NATO in Slovakia posted a gradual increase during the year from 48.3 percent in April to 52.8 percent in September and finally reaching the current 54.8 percent.
