Re: Tourists love Slovak spas but hate services, News shorts, July 21 - August 3, 2003, Vol 9, No 28
I think tourists will find something they do not like about any country they visit. Why not do a little planning first: Learn a few simple polite phrases; it can work wonders to break the language gap.
I recently [received] a video of the Slovak village of Važec, where my maternal grandfather was born, and about 50 wonderful photos of the village. I immediately fell in love with this country and its people. I have begun trying to learn the Slovak language and would give anything to be able to see Važec in person... maybe someday.
I agree with Jeroen Phillipe - don't go to Slovakia looking for endless beaches and the bikini crowd, or the hordes of people at Disneyland.
Try enjoying the countryside, the wonderful diverse foods, the historical sites, many folk festivals, and the beautiful men, women and children of this lovely country.
