It does not surprise me at all that the police in Bratislava are corrupt ["Police-mafia co-operation claimed", News Briefs, Vol. 8, No.3, January 28 - February 3]. When a country pays its police nothing, what else is a police officer to do but find other ways to make money? In Canada the police are paid very well, $60,000 or more a year (Sk1.8 million). If you pay your officers you wont have as big a problem with corruption.
