Reader feedback: Swedish model allows optional tax payments

In Sweden we have a very simple way of dealing with this. The tax is collected and sent further to churches depending on each individual's choice: 0.25 percent of income tax for "burial rights" to the state, 1 percent of income tax to one church (optional).

So, a Protestant pays 1.25 percent "religion" tax. And so does a Muslim (the second-largest religion) and so does a Catholic. If you are not interested in religion you pay 0.25 percent.
