I was in Slovakia in 1989, and most of the rest of the next decade. I agree, in a way, that there were few if any skinheads during the totalitarian period, but that does not mean there were no 'skinheads in waiting'. Tito, in Yugoslavia, only suppressed the centuries of nationalistic and religious hatred, he did not make the racism go away. Totalitarian communism did much the same thing in the central and eastern European countries. They did not get rid of hatred; [the hatred] was only covered over and left to simmer below the surface until the lid was removed and it could all boil over.
