THE NUMBER of people receiving welfare support in Slovakia has been dropping. Compared with 2005, when the average number was 38,500, last year it was only 27,000.
The number of people receiving unemployment benefits from Sociálna Poisťovňa, the public social insurance provider, decreased in the first three months of this year, as well. In January, Sociálna Poisťovňa registered 23,900 people eligible for unemployment benefits, in February, 23,700, and in March, 22,800.
