A police investigator on a case involving the murder of secret service informant Robert Remiaš in 1996 has reported receiving several threatening letters in Russian before September elections.
Investigator Július Šáray, 31, says he is continuing to examine the role played by the SIS secret service in the killing, but is still waiting for the SIS to hand over some key evidence.
Remiaš, who was killed by a car bomb, had been acting as a go-between for SIS officers giving evidence to police of the service’s involvement in the 1995 kidnapping of the then-president’s son, Michal Kováč Jr.
