Slovak retail sales accelerated again in July.
Following June's relative slowdown to 3.1 percent, retail sales grew by 6.9 percent in July, thus exceeding the level of 6.7 percent reported in May. Total retail sales in July amounted to Sk42.9 billion (€1.424 billion).
Following a drop in June, retail sales of food, beverages and tobacco increased 0.5 percent. In the January-July period retail sales rose by 9.2 percent y/y. In July, sales in the wholesale sector in current prices exceeded last year's levels by 16.7 percent. This growth dynamic reflected a 58.4-percent increase in sales of non-farm semi-finished products, 52.2-percent sales growth for machines and a 32.6-percent rise in wholesale food, beverages and tobacco.
