WITH reductions of up to 95 percent in their New Year’s sales, chaos hit the roads surrounding Slovak branches of supermarket chain Carrefour, according to the daily Hospodárske Noviny.
Ten thousand products were on sale in the supermarket’s branches in Bratislava, Košice and Žilina.
The pressure of people hurrying to the sales caused traffic jams and the breakdown of traffic lights. The police were called out to coordinate traffic flow.
