A TOTAL of 350 people working in the Samsonite plant in the southern Slovak town of Šamorín will lose their jobs this fall after the company's US owner decided to move its production to China.
The owner of the company will come to Slovakia today to officially announce the plan, the SME daily wrote.
Following the sudden departure of the Draxlmeier firm to Romania from a planned investment in Rimavská Sobota, the Samsonite decision marks the second time in recent weeks that Slovakia, considered a low-cost destination for investors, has been passed up for an ever lower cost labour market.
