The congress of the opposition Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party has approved the final slate for the upcoming 2020 general election.

It is a victory for the party’s chair Richard Sulík, who pushed through his own version, the Sme daily reported. He is number one on the list, followed by MEP Lucia Ďuriš Nicholsonová.

“I guarantee the stability of this slate; we have great people there,” said Sulík, as quoted by Sme. “I consider the inner disputes definitely closed. I will not return to them and will start dealing with the election campaign on Monday.”

The slate does not feature the critics from the Democratic Core platform, represented by well-known faces like Ľubomír Galko, Jana Kiššová, Jozef Rajtár, and Natália Blahová, Sme wrote.

The last one was even excluded from the party.

Altogether 217 delegates were invited to the congress that took place on October 5 in Jasná (Low Tatras). Only 119 eventually came, and of them 112 supported the slate authored by Sulík.

At the beginning, there were five versions of the slate, one of which was prepared by the Democratic Core, whose members are critical towards Sulík and his behaviour.

All proposals, except for the one proposed by Sulík, had been gradually withdrawn, Sme wrote.
