"The SDKÚ doesn't rule out the possibility of establishing both the ministerial and proxy posts at the same time," Mikloš told the conference, which was organized by the Slovak Ski Region Association.

Apart from establishing the new ministry, Mikloš plans to carry out an audit of the business environment in the tourism sector. The audit will show, according to Mikloš, how to remove obstacles and help the Slovak tourism sector break out of its current lethargy.

"The vast amount of unused potential which Slovakia has in the sector can only be harnessed if Slovakia becomes a competitive country with high sustainable economic growth and a good business environment," Mikloš added.
