The opposition Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ) party said on June 24 that it has drawn up plans to save €66 million to €100 million in the health sector.
SDKÚ deputy Viliam Novotný told the SITA newswire that savings on this scale were “realistic” and could be achieved through drug policy measures and steps to put an end to wasting money in the whole sector. The SDKÚ said the measures it proposes would secure more finances in the sector not only for providers but for health-care workers as well. The party said it believes the savings could bring a 7-percent increase in price terms in contracts for hospitals and doctors and the same pay rise for doctors and nurses.
