IF PARLIAMENTARY elections had been held in Slovakia at the beginning of May, the Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ) would have had the support of 6.9 percent of those polled by the Focus agency, indicating that support for the party nearly doubled from its level in April, the TASR newswire reported.
The survey conducted between May 3 and 9 among a sample of 1,024 respondents found that Smer party had the backing of 46.3 percent of those polled.
The Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) polled at 10.7 percent, upping its polling results from April by some 3 percentage points. The SDKÚ polled only 3.3 percent support in April.
Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party attracted 6.5 percent of those polled in May while Most-Híd party had the support of 6.3 percent, and the Ordinary People and Independent Personalities (OĽaNO) party drew support from 6 percent.
