The state electricity utility, Slovenské elektrárne, recorded a profit of Sk2.4 billion ($50 million) in the first three quarters of the year on revenues of Sk44.6 billion and expenses of Sk42.2 billion. The firm’s debt burden slipped slightly to Sk60 billion from Sk66.5 billion at the end of September 2000, but was still well over the Sk49 billion when the Dzurinda government took over in 1998.
