INTEROR Minister Vladimir Palko has recalled several senior officers of the Police Corps Presidium, according to the SITA news agency.
The sacked officers include the director of the National Anti-narcotics Squad, the director of the Finance Police, the director of the Police Presidium's Surveillance department, and the director of the Organized Crime department in Trnava.
Interior Ministry spokesperson Boris Ažaltovič confirmed that several senior police officials had been dismissed.
"The Interior Minister has recalled as of March 1 several senior officers of the Police Corps Presidium; some were assigned to other positions, mostly outside the Police Corps Presidium," said Ažaltovič.
He also added that the Interior Ministry would issue a statement concerning this issue on March 1.
According to information made available to SITA, some of those sacked, who include top experts, have been given lower level positions in district police headquarters.
