Seven out of ten Slovaks consider EU membership to be a good thing.
The TNS SK polling agency conducted a survey on a sample of 1,010 respondents in April, the SITA news wire wrote. Almost 25 percent of those polled, however, are dissatisfied with Slovakia's entry into the EU and over seven percent were not able to respond to the question. Slovakia entered the European Union on May 1, 2004.
The results show that about 75 percent of those polled believe that EU membership gives Slovaks the opportunity to move freely between EU countries. About 66 percent see the possibility of working in other EU countries to be one of the biggest advantages of membership. Fifty percent think that membership means an opportunity to draw finances from EU funds and have more jobs as a result of foreign investments.
