The chairman of the Slovak National Party (SNS), Ján Slota, said that the statement made by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán during his official visit to Slovakia on January 28 that "reports about him eating innocent Slovak children for breakfast are not true", is a primitive attempt at a joke.
"He tried to be funny on Slovak soil. Imagine what a scandal it would be if a representative of Germany said something similar in Israel? SNS surely doesn't consider this to be funny ... if for nothing other than in view of the historical parallels, at least," Slota told the TASR newswire.
Slota said SNS is appalled by the Hungarian Prime Minister's witticism and called on the top representatives of Hungary to ask Orbán to publicly apologise and explain the motives of the "joke". Orbán’s official visit to Slovakia was the first such official visit of a Hungarian prime minister to Slovakia in 12 years.
