Slovak and Czech presidents mark founding of Czechoslovakia

President Ivan Gašparovič travelled to the Czech Republic on October 27 to meet his Czech counterpart Václav Klaus for a commemoration of the 90th anniversary of the founding of the first Czechoslovak Republic, the president's press department told the TASR newswire.

The two presidents, accompanied by their wives, will lay wreaths at the statue of Tomáš Garique Masaryk, the first president of Czechoslovakia.

Gašparovič and his wife Silvia will visit the National Museum in Prague for an opening of an exhibition dedicated to the anniversary entitled 'Republic 1918-38'. They will also visit the Slovak Institute and meet representatives of societies for ethnic Slovaks living in the Czech Republic.

The presidential couples will then visit the Riding School in Prague Castle and open an exhibition entitled 'Slovak Paintings in History'. TASR
