SLOVAKIA will have a Slovak Historical Institute in Rome as of the beginning of 2014. The Slovak parliament adopted the related legislation in late April, the SITA newswire wrote.
Based on the proposal of deputies Jozef Mikloško from the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) and Otto Brixi and Anton Martvoň, both from Smer, the institute is to employ experts who will explore Italian archives. The operation of the institute should cost €78,000 annually. The institute’s headquarters will be in Bratislava while a research office will be established in Rome.
A director for the institute has not been selected yet, but only scientific workers with a university education and Slovak citizenship are eligible for the post.
