The man suspected of having tried to rob three Bratislava banks on Saturday, April 18, was caught by the Slovak police and he faces up to 15 years in prison. Bratislava Police Corps spokesman František Peczár informed the TASR newswire on April 25 that the suspected robber was a Bratislavan, Štefan P., 54.
“Currently, we are proceeding with the investigation. Later, he will be charged and detained for the grave crime of robbery,” Peczár said.
The previous Saturday the robber tried to take money from banks three times, but succeeded only in the last case. Before 13:00, he came into a bank in the Aupark Shopping centre and tried to take money from the cashier, but after being refused he escaped, leaving his fake gun in the bank. In a bank in the shopping centre at Zlaté Piesky where he arrived around 15:30, he again failed to get any money; he finally succeeded in a third attempt at 18:00 – again in Aupark, but in a different bank – where he got about €30,000.
