Marijuana worth €10 million was seized by police in a night raid in
the Banská Bystrica region on Wednesday, February 19, the SITA newswire reported.
The police searched the building of a former meat-processing factory in Zvolen, where they uncovered thousands of cannabis plants as well as dried marijuana.
Petra Vašková, spokeswoman of Banská Bystrica Police Department, informed SITA that officers found a complete marijuana plantation on the site. During several house searches on Wednesday, a large quantity of marijuana and two Vietnamese nationals were detained in Banska Bystrica as well. They were charged with drug-related crimes.
Vašková said that more people could face charges. There is a high possibility that the two cases are connected. The detained Vietnamese could face prison sentences of three to ten years. SITA
