The Inter-governmental Commission for Economic, Scientific and Technical
Cooperation between the Slovak Republic and the Russian Federation is holding its 16th meeting on Monday and Tuesday, March 4 and 5, in Moscow. Its program includes a review of existing cooperation and identifying the priority areas for the coming year. In addition to a final protocol and the Programme of Partnership for Modernisation of Economies, two other departmental documents are expected to be signed along with nine agreements between enterprises. The Slovak-Russian Business Council is also expected to convene, the Slovak Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs informed the SITA newswire.
Foreign Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák, who is also the co-chairman of the inter-governmental commission, is leading the 20 member official delegation from Slovakia. The co-chairman for the Russian part of the commission is Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin. A delegation of experts with 122 representatives of various government departments, businesses and academia are taking part in proceedings of the commission on behalf of Slovakia. Lajčák will also use the Moscow visit for talks with his Russian counterpart, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
The Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency will present investment opportunities in Slovakia at an extended meeting of the Slovak-Russian Business Council. The Slovak Tourist Board will present Slovakia as a summer and winter tourist destination. Eximbanka will introduce its offer of services for businesses to support exports. Fifteen Slovak companies from different fields will present their activities.
