Slovakia is rapidly growing into a car superpower, writes the daily SME.
The continuing increase of production at Bratislava's Volkswagen plant and the new PSA Peugeot-Citroen plant in Trnava will place Slovakia among the countries with the highest number of cars produced per capita.
Korean carmaker Hyundai/Kia has already picked Slovakia as the site for its new plant, according to an agency dealing with investor news, World Wide Projects.
However, Hyundai officials maintain that their decision is due at the end of February.
Late last year, Slovakia and Poland were shortlisted by Hyundai for the site of a $1.5-billion (€1.18 billion) Kia Motors production unit with an estimated annual output of 300,000 cars, beating out the Czech Republic and Hungary in a battle for the major greenfield investment.
