Slovakia faces worst drought in a century

Meteorologists report that this August is likely to be the driest in Slovakia in the last 100 years, following record-breaking temperatures in July.

Meteorologist Gustáv Otruba told the daily Pravda: "It would appear that the current weather will not change until the end of August, it will continue to be dry. Slovakia has not had such a dry August in the last 100 years."

Farmers are already struggling with lower crop yields and water levels lower by as much as 6 metres in some reservoirs.
