Slovakia tenth in world auto production

In 2001 Slovakia ranked 10th in cars produced per thousand inhabitants out of 51 countries around the world, according to Economy Ministry figures. Production of cars and automotive components was worth Sk150.6 billion, with ministry experts forecasting a rise to Sk250 billion within several years. The production jump is being led by auto maker VW Slovakia and the network of parts suppliers it has brought to Slovakia. Auto industry firms invested Sk28.3 billion in Slovakia last year, 169 per cent more than the year before.
