Because of the delayed tender, the third budget of Finance Minister Ján Počiatek does not count include toll fees, meaning the state will lose Sk5 billion for building highways.
The owners of trucks of over 3.5 tonnes will probably continue to buy highway stamps in 2009. Finance Minister Ján Počiatek's draft budget for the years of 2009 to 2011 does not rely on highway construction within public private partnership projects (PPP). Prime Minister Robert Fico and Transport Minister Ľubomir Vážny have been pushing these projects for over a year.
However, the Finance Ministry does not support the idea of a massive use of PPP projects. It wants to cut Minister Vážny's plan to finance 150 kilometres of highways in this way to 100 kilometres. Počiatek's third budget in this election term plans to invest the highest volume into highway construction ever.
