Slovakia's gross foreign debt continued growing in June according to preliminary data released by the National Bank of Slovakia which reported an increase of over $1.8 billion to a level of $63.429 billion, the SITA newswire wrote.
The gross foreign debt has increased by almost $15.4 billion since the beginning of the year. Inter-company lending with direct investments and foreign liabilities of the National Bank of Slovakia were much of the increase in the sixth month of 2009. Inter-company lending with direct investments went up by $617 million from May to $14.583 billion. Foreign debt of the National Bank of Slovakia swelled by more than $800 million to $21.844 billion, SITA reported.
Foreign debt of bank houses and of other sectors grew moderately in June. Foreign debt of the Slovak government was the only item in Slovakia's foreign debt that saw a slight decline. Long-term liabilities of the Slovak government decreased $206.6 million in June to $10.349 billion. SITA
