A RECENT survey carried out by the CBOS agency showed that just 34 percent of Slovaks think that immigrants should be enabled to settle in this country if they wish to, while as many as 62 percent of Poles share that view.
Poles thus qualify as the most open society towards immigrants of the Visegrad 4 states, which also include Hungary and the Czech Republic, the daily SME reported.
In Hungary only 23 percent of people think immigrants should be enabled to settle down there.
However, 71 percent of Poles think that the country as such does not need immigrants. 70 percent of Czechs, 80 percent Hungarians and 79 percent of Slovaks share this view.
