On February 17, the Slovak men’s ice hockey team lost their first match of the B group in the Olympic tournament in Vancouver to the Czech team 1:3. The packed stadium witnessed 60 minutes of splendid hockey with numerous chances on both sides, the SITA newswire wrote.
Czech Patrik Eliáš scored in the 10th minute. In the 21st minute, Marián Gáborík equalised the score with a strike in the upper left corner of the Czech net but in the 38th minute, Jaromír Jágr put the Czech team ahead again. Two seconds before the end of the second period, Tomáš Plekanec scored and this turned out to be the last goal of the match, SITA wrote.
The Slovak team missed Miroslav Šatan who is injured. The next match is on February 18 at 21:00 Vancouver time, February 19 at 6:00 CET against the much favoured Russians. SITA
